When might IVF be considered?
IVF may be recommended when factors make natural conception difficult or when simpler treatments have not resulted in pregnancy.
- Blocked or damaged fallopian tubes
- Endometriosis
- Male-factor infertility
- Reduced ovarian reserve
- Unexplained infertility
- Previous unsuccessful treatment
Treatment is selected individually according to age, medical history, ovarian function, sperm parameters and test results. No single indication necessarily determines treatment; the complete clinical picture guides planning.

Helpful Answers
Frequently asked questions about IVF
These answers provide general introductory information. The details of treatment, investigations and protocol are always clarified after an individual medical assessment.
How long does an IVF cycle take?
Duration depends on the selected protocol. From stimulation to egg collection it usually takes about 10–12 days, followed by fertilisation, embryo culture and either transfer or freezing.
Is the procedure painful?
Stimulation may cause temporary discomfort or heaviness. Egg collection is usually performed under light anaesthesia or sedation, while embryo transfer is brief and generally requires no anaesthesia.
What is the difference between IVF and ICSI?
In conventional IVF, eggs and sperm are placed together in the laboratory. With ICSI, one selected sperm cell is injected into each mature egg. The appropriate method is chosen after assessment.
Which tests are needed before starting?
Tests depend on your history and may include hormone tests, ultrasound, ovarian-reserve assessment, blood tests and semen analysis.
What should I bring to the first consultation?
Please bring previous results, medical reports, semen-analysis results and information from earlier fertility treatment or IVF cycles.
Can I request an assessment after unsuccessful attempts?
Yes. Reviewing previous cycles can help assess ovarian response, fertilisation, embryo development and areas that may benefit from a different approach.
