Laparoscopy

Laparoscopy is an invasive diagnostic medical technique, with the help of an instrument called a laparoscope, which allows control of the inside of the abdomen. It uses a camera and light attached to a thin-diameter pencil-like telescope called a laparoscope. The laparoscope is inserted into the pelvic cavity through a very small incision just below the navel.

The main applications of laparoscopy in gynecology are:

• Diagnostic laparoscopy for pelvic pain or for investigation of infertility.
• Plastic fallopian tubes, removal or ligation of fallopian tubes.
• Diagnosis and treatment of ectopic pregnancy.
• Diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis.
• Removal of ovarian cysts.
• Removal of fibroids.
• Laparoscopic total or total hysterectomy, with or without the accessories.
• Laparoscopic suspension of the uterus or stump in the hierococcygeal ligament, for prolapse problems.
• Laparoscopic pelvic lymph node cleansing in oncological gynecological cases or genital cancers in general.
